Dragon Ball FighterZ new penalties could permanently ban rage quitters

Ever play an online fighting game, and the player you are fighting disconnects from the match because they are losing? Yep, it happens to everyone. Disconnecting in fighting games has plagued the genre for years. Many games have implemented systems to prevent this, from making you automatically lose the match to publicly shaming you with a badge on your profile.

Bandai Namco and Arc System Works have announced penalties for those who disconnect mid-match on Dragon Ball FighterZ. These penalties can result in a temporary ban from online lobbies to a permanent ban for repeat offenders!

The news came in an announcement on the game itself, under the Latest News! banner. The announcement has been screenshotted and shared on Reddit, where many players have expressed positive reactions to this announcement. Here is the full statement.

"Thank you to all Dragon Ball FighterZ players.
We will now be imposing restrictions on players who deliberately disconnect during online matches. These players will be restricted from entering online lobbies for a set period of time (about 1 week).
(During this restricted period, players will still be able to play the game in the offline lobby.)
If you are unintentionally disconnecting several times, please check your internet connection settings.
If a player is found to be repeatedly engaging in the above behavior, the restrictions mentioned above may become permanent for that player.
We will continue to do what we can to ensure all players have an enjoyable experience with the game. "

It is good to see that penalties will be given to those who abuse disconnections. When I played Dragon Ball FighterZ, it was always annoying when my opponent disconnected mid-match, and I did not get credit for it. Hopefully, this will deter players from doing this, and better the online experience for other players!

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. Development for the game is still going strong with a recent announcement of Master Roshi making his way into the character roster.
