Fortnite will be getting Ray Tracing and DLSS support

On Tuesday, NVIDIA announced its new Ampere Graphics Cards live on stream. Alongside the announcement of the RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090, it was also announced that Epic Games would be bringing ray tracing and DLSS 2.0 support to their massively popular Battle Royale game, Fortnite.

This brings Fortnite to the list of games that will support NVIDIA's technology. Other games that have ray-tracing enabled are games such as Minecraft and Cyberpunk 2077.

Ray tracing allows for games to have sharper shadows, reflections, and ambient occlusion. This ultimately makes games seem like they got a major graphical overhaul! NVIDIA's Deep Learning Super Sampling Technology, or DLSS for short, allows for RTX GPU's to render a game at 1080p and output a 4K image, thus allowing for the excellent viewing experience of 4K, with the FPS boost resulting from not having to render the 4K image.

You can check out the brief RTX trailer that was shown during the live stream below.

It is good to see more game developers taking advantage of ray tracing technology. With the new RTX 30-series cards' announcement, I can see more developers jumping on the ray tracing bandwagon, especially since the new cards hold a significant boost in graphical performance for a reasonable price!
