Project xCloud will officially launch on September 15th

Microsoft has officially announced that its Cloud Gaming service, Projct xCloud, will officially release on September 15th. Those who are Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to access "more than 100 high-quality games playable from the cloud."

This launch will be specific to 22 markets and will be for Android devices only. Unfortunately, there is no planned release for iOS devices. The planned limited launch will give Microsoft time to test and ensure stability before rolling out the platform to millions of gamers.

Some of the games that you will be able to play are games such as Minecraft Dungeons, Destiny 2, Tell Me Why, Gears 5, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and much more. The full list of games that will be available to play will be announced closer to the September 15th release date.

"As the world around us changes and entertainment is readily available no matter the device, it's our vision to make games accessible in a variety of scenarios. All the experiences you expect on Xbox and your gaming profile travel with you on mobile, including your friends list, achievements, controller settings, and saved game progress. You can continue your Gears 5 campaign while traveling away from your home console, or if a sibling or roommate is using the TV you can still complete strikes with friends in Destiny 2." - Kareem Choudhry, Corporate Vice President, Project xCloud, Microsoft

It appears that Microsoft's goal of the Project xCloud platform is to give gamers the ability to play their Xbox games anywhere, as long as they have a compatible device, as well as open up more platforms for players to join the Xbox ecosystem.

I am excited to see the full list of games available at launch, and I may just end up getting an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription!
